Dr. Kevin Ivory, Au.D., CCC-A received his Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Audiology degree from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, one of the top 10 audiology residential programs in the country. Dr. Ivory cultivated his clinical excellence through mentorship from some of the top audiologists in Chicago, in a variety of clinical settings, including busy private practices, Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, Edward Hines, Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital, and Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Kevin Ivory is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and holds his Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). He is a professional member of the California Academy of Audiology, Hearing Loss Association of America, and is a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist.
In addition to also running a premier audiology and hearing aid dispensing practice (La Cañada Aids & Audiology) in La Cañada, California, Dr. Ivory has been a presenter at national audiology conventions. He served on the 2018 Program Committee for Business and Practice Management for ASHA. Dr. Ivory is currently also working on a chapter to be included in an Auditory Disorders textbook.
Since the Fall Quarter of 2015, Dr. Ivory has continuously been a university instructor in the Communication Disorders departments at both California State University, Los Angeles and California State University, Northridge where he teaches “Hearing Science” and “Aural Rehabilitation” courses. He is able to bring current clinical best practice standards and research findings to his practice where his patients receive personalized evidence-based care from Dr. Ivory while learning from one another. An audiology topic of interest which Dr. Ivory keeps a very close eye on is the relationship and correlations between hearing loss and early on-set dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Dr. Ivory’s parents inspired him to pursue a career as an audiologist. His father (Dr. Peter Ivory) has a Ph.D. in Audiology and his mother (Dr. Susan Ivory) has a Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, so she does the talking and he does the listening. His parents are still practicing in their respective fields.
Speaking of family, the one job Dr. Ivory values more than being an audiologist, is being a proud father to his two daughters. Dr. Ivory’s wife (a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist), has taught her husband well and has shown Dr. Ivory the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
That’s why, when he is not practicing audiology, he enjoys traveling, rooting for the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team, but most of all, spending time with his wife and daughters.
